One then dips the vegetable in the charoset and eats the volume of an average olive.  After the feast, after eating a final volume of an average olive of matzah, one may not taste anything at all.  However, at this point, it is not prohibited to eat all sorts of delicacies and toasted nuts and drinks, as one does on the Sabbath, in order to increase the number of blessings said, and to fortify oneself for the telling of the story of the Exodus.  After eating the dipped vegetable and the appetizers, one must bless final blessings as appropriate to the type of food one was eating, if one does not intend to eat during the telling of the story.

Once Rabbi Eliezer, Rabbi Yehoshua, Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah, Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Tarfon were all celebrating the Seder in B'nai B'rak.  And they told the story of the Exodus from Egypt the entire night, until their students came and told them, "our masters, the time has come for the morning recital of Shema`!"

Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah said to them, "Behold, I am like a man of seventy years of age, but I never merited having the story of the Exodus told at night until ben Zoma expounded what is written in "that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life" (Deuteronomy 16,3)--"the days of thy life", that is the days; "all the days of thy life", the nights as well.  And the Sages say "the days of thy life", this world; "all the days of thy life", the world to come in the days of the Messiah.

The wise one--what does he say?  "What are the testimonies, and the statutes and the laws that the LORD our God commanded you?" (Deuteronomy 6,20).  So you tell him about the laws of Pesach, that one may not eat anything whatsoever after the Pesach sacrifice.

(Exodus 12,26).  "To you", and not to him.  And since he excluded himself from the people at large, he denies the foundation of our faith.  So you blunt his teeth and tell him, "It is because of this that the LORD acted for me when I came forth out of Egypt" (Exodus 13,8).  "For me", and not for him; had he been there, he would not have been redeemed.

As for the one who does not know how to ask, you must begin for him, as it is written "and thou shalt tell thy son in that day, saying:  It is because of this that the LORD acted for me when I came forth out of Egypt" (Exodus 13,8).  "And thou shalt tell your son", perhaps we can begin from the beginning of the month [of Nisan]?  The Torah teaches "on that day" [on the day of the Exodus].  If "on that day", perhaps we can begin while it is still day?  The Torah teaches "because of this", to teach only when the matzah and maror are placed before you.

Go out and learn what Lavan the Aramean sought to do to Jacob our father!  Pharaoh the evil only decreed against the males, but Lavan sought to uproot everything, as it is written "A wandering Aramean was my father" [while this makes little sense in English, the free word order of Hebrew and ambiguity of the verb "'oved" can be stretched somewhat to mean that an Aramean Lavan tried to cause the loss of Jacob] "and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there" (Deuteronomy 26,5).  This teaches that he did not descend to live there permanently, but rather temporarily, "And they said unto Pharaoh:  'To sojourn in the land are we come; for there is no pasture for thy servants' flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan.  Now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen'" (Genesis 47,4).
